North Atlantic Crossing

The crossing preparation started in Santa Cruz with a refuelling of our ship. The fuelling ship attached early in the morning, just after we docked, and unhooked just before we left port. It took over 7 hours to fill up – that is a lot of gas!

On the first morning and each day after, we have awoken to beautiful blue skies and calm waters. We have slept like babies with the gentle roll of the waves. For 5 days we have seen only blue waters and a horizon in the far distance but we know we are getting closer to land 😀

This port free time has given us lots of time to rest, catch up on our laundry, read, enjoy the ship and reflect.

I have thought a lot this week of my grandpa and his crossing of the North Atlantic 110 years ago as a little orphan boy of 10 on the Corsican.

  1. You have definitely crossed off so many places of beauty and interest. I wonder how many steps you’ve done since day 1. Your photos are spectacular. You both look great. Stay safe and keep on enjoying 🥰
