Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands. It’s capital is Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz boasts about having the best climate in the world and lived up to it on the day we visited.

Santa Cruz is a lively city with lots of interesting plazas, markets and cultural landmarks.

We first visited the Market of Nuestra Señora de Africa known as the chicharreros. The market is housed in a colonial-style building and was bustling with people shopping for meats, cheeses, fish, spices, legumes and local crafts. It was an interesting area.

We then continued strolling through the streets – decorated beautifully for the holidays – lined with all types of shops.

After a relaxing cappuccino stop we continued on to the Plaza Weyler Square, the Plaza del Principe Square finishing at the Plaza de España Square. Each square was designed to be charming and inviting. In each square we sat for a short time to take in the ambiance.
