Today we went to Alafia River State Park for our bike ride. Like several of the bike parks near Tampa, this park was once a phosphate mine named the Lonesome Mine. In 1996 the land was donated to the state to be used as a park. Alafia State Park is now home to 17 miles of bike trails ranging from easy to extremely difficult.
Gary, Pam and Brian started by doing the giant berm and uphill climb. After doing this for a few times we continued on to ride the Sandy Pine, Rock Garden and Hidden Rivers trails.

To finish off our visit to the park we had a nice BBQ lunch of cheddar cheese dogs. Yum!
