Today was a lazy day. Brian and I reassembled our bikes and then took them for an hour and a half test drive. It was just so beautiful out it was hard not to stay out on them. We explored all of Gary and Pam’s neighbourhood and then ventured up Central Ave and in through some of the other gated communities.
Once back we visited with Pam for a bit while we waited for Gary to return from his mountain biking. We ate lunch and set off to the pool for a bit.
Behind Gary and Pam’s house is a big man-made lake. Occasionally the pond goes through some sort of cycle that causes all of the oxygen to be lost from the lake. With no oxygen all of the fish die and end up on the shores of the lake. This brings with it the smell of death and masses of vultures and other types of birds. Yesterday there was a pod of white pelicans swimming on the lake, several blue herons wading on the shore and many vultures. We even saw a peregrine falcon on the neighbouring roof.

That is sad for the fish but good for the birds. Love your bird pics…beautiful!

It is, but given it is a cycle it may be a way to maintain fish health? Hope you are having a nice vacation and getting some good skiing in.
