Friday was our last port of call – Ocean Cay. Ocean Cay is an artifical island in the Bahamas redeveloped as a marine reserve by MSC Cruises. It was originally built by dredging in the late 1960s by Dillingham Corporation of Hawaii and was used to mine Aragonite sand for diverse industrial purposes.
Though we woke up to a rainy day, the skies soon cleared and the sun came out allowing us to get off the ship and explore this little island. MSC has done a great job in redeveloping the island with a lagoon in the centre and access to the ocean all around. Brian and I set up our spot in the shade and headed out for a snorkel. We swam the lagoon with a brief stop on a little dock set in the middle, crossed the beach and entered the ocean on the far side of the island. We saw lots of little and medium sized fish as we swam around the rock barriers. It felt great swimming in the sea.

Well the artificial island looks pretty real!
All the best,
Whynn

That it did. The lagoon in the centre was a very neat natural swimming pool.
