Myakka River State Park

Our ride today was through the Myakka River State Park. This state park is one of Florida’s largest, oldest and most diverse natural areas.

Our 15km scenic route took us through shady oak-palm hammocks and along the Upper Myakka lakeshore where we were able to stop at several lookouts to see alligators and many different birds like osprey, white pelicans, herons – big and little – spoonbills, vultures, ibis and giant egrets.

Back at home we relaxed for a bit before heading to the Outback for supper.
