Cruising Capri

Today we made the trek down to Amalfi again using the footpath to catch the ferry to Capri. On our way down we figured out why the steps were built so far apart – to make it easier for donkeys to travel up and down. Today it only took us 45 minutes to get down – we were really booting it so we wouldn’t miss the boat.

The trip to Capri was 1 hour and we were fortunate to get seats with a view. The ferry ride to Capri allowed us to experience Positano from a different viewpoint.

Capri is a very busy island with many tourists. Once we landed we headed directly for the “Centro” which was a straight up climb. I mistakenly thought it would not be as busy up there and the prices of the restaurants would be a little cheaper. Nope. We found a nice little restaurant and stopped for some Marinara and Margherita pizza before heading to the other side of the island to find a beach. The climb down was about 10 minutes. The beach was packed. We found a place to change into our bathing suits and then got into the ocean. The water was beautiful and just what we needed after our walk.

With an hour and half to catch the ferry we started our hike back to the terminal. The travel back up to the “Centro” only took us 15 minutes at a very quick pace and then about another 30 minutes to get back to the marina. Just enough time for a daiquiri and beer 🙂

We decided to have our supper in Amalfi as we just missed the bus back to Scala. We found a little restaurant just off the main square, ate our dinner and caught the next bus home. The bus was very crowded and noisy with many American tourists.
