Today we visited the Amalfi coast. We decided to take the footpath – accessible from our Airbnb – to get to the port village of Amalfi. It took us just over an hour to descend more than 3000 stair steps, some areas being quite steep and some of the roads quite narrow. The views though were amazing. We decided though on our way down that we would take our hosts recommendation and catch the local bus back up 🙂

We passed through the town of Potone on our way down. It was a quaint little village built into the hillside – like most villages along the Amalfi coast.

Amalfi is a bustling little village located on the waterfront. We toured down the cobble streets, ate our lunch – lasagna and spaghetti bolognese – filled our water bottle in the central fountain and visited the community beach where we met two ladies from Toronto.

We bought our tickets from a small Tabbaca, found the bus station and caught our bus back to Scala. It was hard to believe that a bus could travel on the narrow, winding roads up the hillside. At one point, in heavy traffic, our bus had to do a 5 point turn just to make it around one of the switchbacks – amazing! The trip up afforded us tremendous views of the Almalfi coastline.

Back at home we relaxed on the terrace with some wine and cheese and made a reservation at Trattoria Lorezo’s for an 8:00 pm dinner. Dinner was fantastic. The restaurant had great night views of Ravello. Once seated our waiter wheeled out a cooler of fish for us to choose our dinner from. I chose a red snapper and Brian declined opting for the homemade ravioli. Both meals were very tasty. We followed our main meal with a shared dessert of ricotta cheese cake and then made our way back to our abode for the night.
