Scala Set

Google showed a 3.5 drive from Bari to Scala, so, after we picked up the rental car, checked it for scratches and dents we were off.

Most of the trip was on a toll highway which took up by many olive groves and grape orchards. A little hunger and needing a stretch we stopped at a restaurant on the side of the rode for pizza. We ended up with a Rustic (like a calzone) and an arancini for our lunch.

Back on the road we passed many windmills in fields and small villages built into the top of the hills.

We arrived just after 5:00 at our airbnb. Unpacked a little and then went to the pool for a quick dip and refresher before getting ready for supper in Scala.

For supper we found a nice little restaurant – after being told that the first restaurant we were going to wasn’t open tonight and the second could not take us because we didn’t have a reservation – there wasn’t a single person in the restaurant – in the town centre. Our meal was very good and the owner was very patient with us as we attempted a little Italian. To end the evening the owner brought us out two limoncello shots and cookies – both were very tasty.
